September 16th, 1999 --**It seems like the Celtic Tiger has had an effect on the common every day stag party. Gone are the days when a stag party was upstairs in the Autobahn and if we could afford it a trip to Jets at closing time. Last week Pat Mannion took half the Club with him to Westport for the weekend for his stag party. Pat gets married next month, we wish his future wife the best of luck.**

July 20th, 1999 -- **In this off season there is still plenty to be done - money to be raised, juvenile management teams to be put in place for the upcoming season, pitches and club house to be maintained. So don't get too lazy, and in particular if you think you might have some time on your hands at the weekends this coming autumn, talk to Johnny Mahoney about taking an underaged team out for a season. If you want to help develop Kickhams, think about all the kids in your area that are not playing with the club and ask yourself, why? Ballymun has always had a shortage of manpower and as a result we are losing very talented kids to soccer and to other GAA clubs outside our catchment area. So don't forget THE CLUB NEEDS YOU.**
June 27th, 1999 -- ** Jack Lynch recently stepped down as manager of the Junior team. Jacks personal commitments no longer allow him the time needed to run an adult team successfully. The club thanks Jack for all his efforts and wish his replacement, Dermot McMahon the best of success in the months and years ahead .**
June 26th, 1999 -- **A message from Intermediate player JP Carroll "Best of luck to the Dublin lads for Sundays big match against Laois. Another Goal
from Robbo, and point from Paddy would go down nicely. Hard luck to Rossa on Roscommons
defeat. I'm sure everyone knows that the Seniors are playing St Brigids on Friday in the
Championship, but also the Intermediates are playing their replay against Fingallians on Thursday at
Balgriffan. Anybody who was present at the first match ( which wasn't many, but thanks to those
who did attend ) would agree that it was a pulsating game of football, so all support would be very
welcome as we were out numbered by them the last day. This is a very important week ahead for
the future of our club, so I think every effort should be made to support both teams in their outings,
because who knows what two wins next week would do for the spirit and morale of the club."
I could not have said it better myself.**
Report from Gerry Alcock**
June 7th 1999**The day out last Saturday was an outstanding success. The Ballymun juveniles won
all three matches with ease. The real men (married) won the big game by 1-14 to
2-8.Colm (Bertie) Lyons won the penalty shoot-out by scoring all three
penalties. We are still awaiting his birth-cert to prove he is over-50.The Ladies
penalty shoot-out never took place because maybe of lack of interest or because
they were too busy cooking the burgers. The 70s disco was also a great
success, attended by over 170 people who drank and danced the night away. The Bar
stayed open until 2.00a.m and the last person left at 4.00a.m.All goes well for
future events in the clubhouse.
3.15p.m Under 10 Ballymun v Clontarf
3.15p.m Under 12 Ballymun v Templeogue
4.15 p.m Under 14 Ballymun v St Finnians,Swords
6.00p.m Married v Singles Rematch. At half time there is a Over-50s penalty shoot-out and before the match there is a
Ladies penalty shoot-out(this will proably take all night for any of them to score from 14 yards out). There will be then a
Bar-b-que
after the match which is being organised by the women when they have finished trying to score a penalty. Then the
highlight of the evening is a 70s Disco with a full bar.
On Sunday the Dubs are playing Louth in Croke Park.the big suprise is the placing of Ian Robertson at
full-forward.Davy Byrne is in goal and Paddy Christie is at full-back.Niall O Donoghue is dropped to the bench.**June 4th 1999 --**Everything is all set for tomorrow for our day out. There will be three matches for the juveniles. Here is the full
programme;
May 31st, 1999 -- **The under 21 season gets under way this week with the welcome return of Paul Ryan and Jimmy Duffy as the management team. Veteran manager Sean Andrews has also been added to the management team for this year.**
May 27th, 1999 -- **the draw for the 2nd round of the c'ship was made on Monday night with Kickhams coming away with a difficult fixture against St. Brigids. It is hoped to play all matches on the weekend of July 2nd.**
May 15th, 1999 -- **A good win for the Senior Footballers in the 1st round of the C'ship last night. Top scorers were Stephen Condon with 2-05 and Niall O'Donohue with 0-08. The exciting free flowing football displayed is a good sign for the rest of the campaign**see match report**. Other football notes: The Intermediates had a good, if somewhat lucky win on Thursday night against Scoil Ui Chonnail. Loosing by four points with 2 minutes to go, Kickhams kept fighting and were rewarded with a last minute penalty, which was converted by Shane O'Brien. Kickhams went on to win by a single point. The Junior team have turned to some "older" members to add some experience to their squad. Once high flying senior midfielder Garry Talbot, always flamboyant Sean "flowery" Power and rock solid Paddy Comerford have been added to the line up to help the less experienced and younger players like Alan Loughlin and Cathal Roche. These changes to the panel suggest the Junior
manager prefers the slow methodical approach to goal.**

Niall O'Donoghue is one of our new members and in a recent league game against Clontarf he scored 1-10, I think he will fit right in.**
March 15th, 1999 -- **Despite a rather poor attendance (70 People) the annual dinner dance went off without a hitch. Johnny Mahoney was named clubman of the year, Daren Ducie, Brendan Quinlivan, Shane O'Brien and Shane Barry were other award winners. One highlight worth mentioning was the performance given by our chairman Gary Talbot in his rendition of "Moondance" (An oldie but goodie)**
March 4th, 1999 -- **Congratulations to Alan McKean, Ross Carrick and Jim McCann who have been named to the Dublin minor football panel for the 1999 campaign. Kickhams minor team is managed by Johnny Mahoney, Shane McKean and Mick Shelly and is sponsored by Access Rent A Car.**

Paddy Christy has a slow healing ankle injury which could keep him out for a couple of months. Darren Ducie is suffering from a serious back injury which requires total rest for at least a month.

Singles game takes place in Pairc Ciceam at 11am on Sunday, December the 27th. Gerry Hargan takes charge of the married team while Pat Mannion gets the singles team. Immediately following the game all are welcome in the club house for a "session"
December 7, 1998 -- Some Intermediate team news. Team Manager, Gerry Alcock, asked that a special mention be made of Frank O'Connell who scored 3-2 in yesterdays league win over St. Brigids. The team is currently in 6th place in the League and finished runners up in the recently completed Joy Cup competition.
November 9, 1998 -- The drinks are on Paul Dunne this week in the Autobahn. Paul was the lucky winner of the jackpot in this weeks club lotto.
September 30, 1998 -- Ballymun man Val Andrews, resigned as manager of the Tralee RTC football team earlier this week. As I mentioned in a previous tidbit on this page, Val won two Sigerson Cups in his two years as manager. We all wish him the best of luck in his next venture (what ever that might be).
August 20, 1998 -- Congratulations to Paddy Christie and David Byrne who have been invited to trials for the upcoming International Rules series. They are two of only four Dublin players invited.
April 28, 1998 -- Dave Synott, a regular in the halfback line for the Dubs in the Eighties, has joined Anto McCaul as manager of the Ballymun Kickhams senior football team. Dave spent his playing days with the O'Tooles Club. Here's hoping that these two shrewd football minds can guide this young and very talented team to a championship this year.
April 24, 1998 -- Ballymun are currently in 3rd place in Division One of the Senior Football League with 11 points from 8 games. They are 1 point behind Kilmacud and two points behind Naomh Mearnog. There has, to my knowledge, been no decision made yet on the disputed league match between Erin's Isle and Ballymun...stay tuned.
April 2, 1998 -- In a strange twist to last Sunday's league match against Erin's Isle, it turns out the referee might have made a mistake with the score. It was reported by people on both sides of this intense but friendly rivalry that the referee inadvertently awarded a point to the Isles when in actual fact it was scored by Kickhams. An appeal has been lodged, and if successful it would result in a 2 point swing and a victory for Kickhams very strange.
March 9, 1998 -- It takes a Ballymun man.. The Andrews family has long been one of the cornerstones of Ballymun Kickhams and the GAA. Val Andrews, a long time friend of mine, moved to Tralee six or seven years ago with his family to take up a new job teaching at the R.T.C. He also became involved in the football team at the college. Last Sunday, Tralee won their 2nd Sigerson Cup in as many years with Val Andrews as manager. Why does that not surprise me. I'm sure his mother, brother and rest of his family are very proud of him.
Ballymun Kickhams lost two of their finest members over the last year. Mick Ryder and Larry Finnerty were from different generations but had the same love of Kickhams and are greatly missed by their family and friends. May they both rest in peace.
